Babies don’t keep

I peer into Mya’s crib while she naps, and I’m amazed by how much she has grown. Not just physically, but in all different ways…As the past 7 months have gone by this tiny baby has evolved into a tiny person, with a not so tiny personality. From smiling, talking, reaching to playing patty cake and sitting all alone she amazes me daily. I want to be able to just sit beside her all day and spend my time enjoying her as she enjoys learning and growing in her own world. Please slow down Mya, its all going too fast, I dont want to miss a second of it…

Babies Don’t Keep
Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due,
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo.

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Olympic Fever

Well the Vancouver 2010 Olympics have come and gone, and I am truly sad. I remember 7 years ago when it was announced that the Olympics were to be held in Vancouver. My mom woke me up to hear the announcement… honestly it didn’t mean that much to me. I was happy, I guess, but didn’t really care at the time. ¬†Fast forward to present day, and I am thrilled that the Olympics were held here. I think we did a fantastic job and I have never felt so proud to be Canadian. Pat, Mya and I were fortunate enough to be part of it all. We did not go to any actual events, but we were part of the crowd which is rewarding all by itself. The vibe downtown Vancouver the past 2 weeks was nothing short of amazing! I am so glad we got to experience it first hand, and even though Mya wont remember it at all, I am glad we chose to take her just so she can say she was part of some great Canadian history.
