Busy busy busy and a baby!

I try to post twice weekly or at least once a week on my blog but lately I have been really struggling to find the time (and possibly the energy). I am currently 21 weeks along with our second baby and we found out yesterday we will be blessed yet again with a little girl! We are very excited! So bare with me as I try to find the time to blog and keep everything updated. Also, we are getting prepared to move into our first house so there is many things happening all at once but I will do my best! For now, here are some pictures from the past week or so…

OH! And I would also like to mention the blog name change. Sugar and Spice seemed appropriate seeing it will be a houseful of girls (and of course daddy). Enjoy your week everyone 🙂

No Bake Cookies!

I’m always happy to find a simple yet delicious cookie recipe. This one quite possibly tops them all for me, it was really good! If you like chocolate and peanutbutter then I would give this one a try..(I found the recipe here)

Chocolate, Oatmeal and Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3 cups oatmeal
  • Waxed paper

In a heavy saucepan mix the sugar, cocoa, butter, salt and milk over medium heat until combined. Bring to a boil and let boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and quickly add peanut butter stir until just combined, then stir in vanilla and oatmeal. On a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls (I use a cookie scoop). Cookies will harden when cool.

Valentines Day Crafts

Today we buried ourselves beneath hearts, glitter and glue! We spent the morning crafting and creating beautiful works of art. Now, I must start thinking of what to do this afternoon to keep my two little Valentines busy on this rainy February day.

This Moment…

{this moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Our Valentines Play

We started to get into the Valentines mood around here. Its fun to play and decorate with hearts and surround ourselves in pink and red. The girls are enjoying their new Valentines themed activities. Here are a few things we did to start off our Valentines…

Linking to Childhood 101

Ice Treasures

Mya LOVES to play with water, whether its in the bath, a pool, or a puddle the kid will splash forever. Based on her interest with water I decided to introduce ice to her. We have talked about hot and cold before, but our ice treasures really helped her to learn with a more hands on approach. I froze some of her toys in a popsicle container, then filled bowls with warm water and presented the ice treasures for her and her cousin to explore.

Our first nature table

I decided to set out all of Mya’s treasure she has collected during our walks from the past few months, and have a magnifying glass for her to explore and examine things a little closer. I also placed her tree blocks, some shells, and her miniature animals on the table to look at as well.
Mya (and her cousin Abby) really enjoyed looking at everything and even took turns with the magnifying glass on their own! (I plan to buy two child friendly magnifying glasses asap seeing the girls enjoyed this so much).
